Track My Meals — Privacy Policy

This app ("Track My Meals" / "Трекер харчування") is built by a single independent developer for personal/family use. It does not collect, store, or sell any personal data on its own servers — the app has no backend server or database of its own at all.
This is not a medical app. Track My Meals is a personal food-logging tool with estimated calculations (glycemic index/load, calories, macros). It does not diagnose or treat any medical condition and is not a substitute for advice from a doctor or registered dietitian.
Glycemic index and nutrition values are estimates drawn from public sources (published GI research, USDA FoodData Central) and may not be accurate for a specific product or person — the app explicitly flags unconfirmed values with a "≈" marker. Always consult your doctor before making decisions about diet, medication dosing, or the management of diabetes or any other health condition.
What data the app accesses
The app accesses:
- Basic Google account info (name, email) — only to sign you in via Google Sign-In.
- The contents of your Google Sheets spreadsheet — the ingredients, dishes, meal entries, and blood-sugar readings you enter. This includes health data (blood glucose), which we treat with particular care: it never leaves the direct connection between your device and your own spreadsheet.
- Food names (nothing else) — sent to USDA FoodData Central and MyMemory Translation solely to look up nutrition values and translate them (see below).
None of this ever reaches the developer's own servers — there are none.
How your data works
All nutrition and blood-sugar data you enter is stored in your Google Sheets spreadsheet — the one you connect in Settings. The app reads and writes to that spreadsheet directly via the official Google Sheets API, using your own Google account. The app itself never sends this data to the developer and never keeps a copy of it — every request goes directly between your device and Google Sheets.
Sign-in is performed via Google (OAuth). The access token lives only in the device's memory for the session and is never sent anywhere except Google.
A separate note on file ownership: who else can see your spreadsheet outside the app depends on who owns that file in Google Drive and who it's shared with — that's a matter of the file's Google Drive permissions, not the app itself. If the spreadsheet was created by, and is still owned by, someone else (for example, a family member who helped you get set up with the app), that person may have direct access to the file through Google Drive, independent of anything the app does. If you want sole access to your spreadsheet, make yourself the file's only owner in Google Drive.
Third-party services
- Google Sheets API / Google Sign-In — for storing your data and signing in. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- USDA FoodData Central — a free public nutrition database run by the US government. The app sends only a food name (in English) to search for its nutrition values — no personal information.
- MyMemory Translation API — a free translation service that receives only the Ukrainian food name to translate to English — no personal information.
Notifications
Meal reminders are scheduled and fire entirely on your device, with no data transmitted anywhere.
Ads and analytics
The app contains no advertising, no analytics trackers, and does not share data with ad networks.
Security
All connections to the Google Sheets API, USDA, and MyMemory are made exclusively over encrypted HTTPS. Your Google account access token lives only in the device's memory for the duration of a session — never written to disk, never stored in the app, never sent to any server we control.
Data retention and deletion
The developer retains none of your data — there's nowhere for it to be retained outside your own spreadsheet. There is no separate account or database of ours to delete: your Google Sheets spreadsheet is the only place this data ever lives. You fully control it — edit or delete any entry directly in the spreadsheet, delete the spreadsheet itself, or revoke the app's access to your Google account anytime in your Google security settings — any of these immediately and completely cuts off the app's access to your data.
